The tunes on this CD let the band stretch out comfortably, building ideas, trading riffs, exploring a little bit of familiar territory and a lot of new ground. 'Play It Back' is a joyous call-and-response session between Dr. Lonnie and the Band. 'Lonnie's Blues' has one of those great tempos that could (and should) go on for hours. 'Nick's Kick' written by the two sax players, Weeds and Cook, is a staple at every Crash gig. With echoes of George Benson, and elements of R&B, funk and be-bop, Crash and the good doctor take us to the elemental place all music comes from. It's intoxicating, and good for your health too.
