Dictionary.com defines foundations as the basis on which a thing stands, is founded, or is supported. I cant think of a better metaphor to describe this wonderful bassist, her quartet and this brand new album. Jodi Proznick, barely out of her thirties has developed into one of the most complete bassists in the country and combines literally everything it takes to fill perhaps the most important chair in an ensemble. First of all her natural bass sound is simply divine. Its big, full, round and defined. Her sense of swing is infectious and she wastes no time in letting you know that if you want to swing she'll be right there swinging every quarter note!
